Neon Lights and Uses

The word “Neon” has been derived from Greek word “Neos”, meaning new gas. The idea behind neon light was first evolved in 1675 by French astronomer Jean Picard. The Neon lights are the gas discharging lights usually used for the purpose of illumination of both indoor and outdoor applications. When the electricity passes through the anode and cathode of the neon lighting, the high charge among the cathode and anode causes the electronics in the gas to ionize and blaze in a bright color. Short circuit happens at high voltage, when temperature of the neon light tube reaches 550 Fahrenheit.

Neon lights are also made by using the colored glass tubes. The color produced by the neon lights is bright reddish-orange and it can also produce many attractive colors such as blue, green and yellow. The Neon lights are used to create the modern and unique colors. When the argon light is mixed with the neon gas lighting in the glass tube, it generates a real light of blue color. Basically, the neon lighting is used by the business offices and many other firms for advertisement purposes. The most business offices and firms use neon lights in their sign boards and banners for catching attention of the people.
