Relay - An Electric Device for Audio System

Relay is an electrical switch which turns on/off with the help of another electrical circuit. The current flow through the relay coil generates an electromagnetic field which pulls the lever and alters the switch contacts. One of the best features of a relay is that, it can be used to differentiate electrically isolated parts of a circuit.

There are many types of relays which can be used according to the needs. Important things to keep in mind while selecting a relay is its size, voltage and the capacity of current contact points, resistance of the nodes etc. Relays are usually SPDT (Single-Pole Double-Throw) and DPDT (Double-Pole Double-Throw) but still feature more sets of switch contacts. Switches are also called relays. So, when buying a switch you must consider some of the important points like: Contacts, Ratings and method of operation.

The SPDT relay is an electromagnetic switch, which consists of coils, one common terminal, one closed and one open terminal. There are different types of automotive relays available in the market including High Capacity, Standard 40A and Micro automotive relays under the category of SPDT. Bosch relays are available in various types and especially used in different automobile brands for example, in Ford a grey relay version with new wiring units are used, GMC and Chevy also use it but in black modules only.

The switching speed of reed relays is faster than conventional relays. Reed relays help to protect the contacts from any rust and closed by a magnetic field created when current passes through the coil. In today’s technology, the device which is more in use is electric relay. A 12 volt relay allows the screen automatically lower or rise when the projector or 12 volt DC source is turned on/off 3.0000 (H) X 6.0000 (W) X 3.0000 (D) 2 Ibs. For example, a 12 volt relay with a coil resistance of 400 omega passes a current of 30mA, this is ok for a 555 timer IC but it is more than enough for some of the ICs and they need a transistor to amplify the current.

It is always essential to segregate one circuit electrically from another, while allowing the first circuit to control the second. For example, if you want your computer to be controlled by high voltage circuit than you will possibly not connect it to low voltage port at the back of the computer. In case, if you will do that then your computer will be harmed. Therefore, time relays is a relay which can be activated by setting some specific time interval on it. If we talk about relays then Panasonic is the name which comes first in our mind because Panasonic is the market leader in manufacturing relays.
