High Quality Car Amplifiers

Generally the term amplifier is used for a device that uses a small amount of energy to control a large amount of energy. Today, the term refers to an electronic amplifier. Electronic amplifier is a device that we commonly use in audio systems. The general characteristics of an amplifier are as follows:

- Gain
- Out put dynamic range
- Bandwidth and rise time
- Setting time and aberration
- Linearity
- Noise
- Efficiency
- Slew Rate

Car audio amplifier is an electronic amplifier. The main purpose of a car amplifier is to get low signals from the source unit and amplify them into high signals to produce quality output for loudspeakers. There are many types of amplifiers available in the market having distinctive features. Car amplifier’s range in power is from 20 watts per channel to 1000 watts per channel. Their prices also vary on the basis of functions, features and output quality. Car amplifiers are available from US $ 50 to 1000. Car amplifier comes in various sizes depending on the number of channels. An amplifier can be as small as 1 channel amplifier to as large as 8 channels amplifier. The 2 and 4 channel amplifiers are very popular among people. However mono subwoofer amplifiers are also getting much popularity in cars stereo system.

Car amplifiers have built in features such as equalizer, speaker level input, active crossovers and signal processing. While purchasing a car amplifier keep it always in mind that all amplifiers don’t have the same power rating. Some low quality brands may mention high power ratings but don’t give the desired output. This is the main reason to select a well-known brand to avoid such abnormalities.
Some features of car amplifier are as follows that need to be considered when you to purchase a new one:

Bridgeable: With this feature a pair of amplifier power channel is combined into one channel for greater power.
Channel: This feature offers flexibility. Especially in the sense of options, in future up-gradation and add-ons.
Class: This feature identifies the way on which an amplifier operates. This feature is rarely found in car audio amplifier.
Connectors: This feature refers to the method of attachment of wires that are connected with amplifier and other equipments like speakers and power wires.
Power Supply: The two most general types are IC chip and MOSFET supply. IC chip is mostly used in head unit and is able to produce 20 watts per channel while MOSFET is the most famous design and is able to produce high quality sound as compared to IC chip.
