A woofer enclosure can be as simple as trunk or can be as complex as a series tuned dual reflex band pass enclosure. But there are different types of enclosures available in the market manufactured by highly prestigious audio system manufacturers. The cone size and the required enclosure will be the two very important factors when deciding on a subwoofer for your system. There are several well-known manufacturers offering different types of bass woofers having distinctive features. Some manufacturers also make some non-typical woofer applications, for example tube-type subwoofer and the vehicle specific subwoofer system. Tube subwoofers have cylinder type shape. They contain woofer on one side while the other end is completely sealed. This type of subwoofer is very useful to add in the limited space and leased cars. Tube-subwoofer comes in self-amplifier varieties as well.
Vehicle specific subwoofer systems are usually built from wood and fiberglass and are designed to fit tightly into a factory void or pocket. Because they are specific to one vehicle they are more expensive then either a standard box or tube configuration. When you decide to purchase a subwoofer for your car audio, determine first of all which size of woofer can easily be placed in your car. As mentioned before that subwoofers come in various sizes like 6”, 8”, 10”, 12” and 15” but the standard size of a subwoofer is 8 inch. So select the appropriate size of subwoofer according to the capacity of your car. Be realistic about your objectives for the system and the space you are willing to give to attain those objectives. If you want a strong bass but you have a limited space, add more power to your subwoofer system.
