An amplifier receives a low-level signal input and changes it into a high quality signal output. Car amplifier enlarges audio signals to produce high quality sound. If you are not satisfied with the output quality of your car audio system, then, you must go to purchase an amplifier which will boost the quality of sound and offer you optimum satisfaction.
You need to install an amplifier to power the speakers and to get the full effect of your car audio system. In case you want to use a subwoofer too in your car, you need an amplifier to power it. Installing a car amplifier is not too tricky but it needs some technical skills to finalize your installation by yourself. In this way you can save your money that you will spend on your car amplifier installation. The most significant requirement of car amplifier installation is that you need to remove all the panels of your car so that various wires can be run all over the car.
Here is some guidance for a successful amplifier installation.
- First of all choose the location in your car where you want to put your new amplifier. If you are installing a subwoofer as well then it is the best choice for you to put your amplifier in the trunk and attach it with the subwoofer enclosure. But if you are going to give power to your car’s main speakers with new amplifier then you can put it under the passenger seat.
- You will need the following wiring: A thick power cable; its thickness depends upon the total wattage of your amplifier. Get sufficient power cables that can easily reach your amplifier from battery. Three feet of ground cable having equal thickness as power cable, a remote on wire, and an RCA signal cable to carry left and right signals from your head unit to amplifier.
- You will need the following tools: wire cutter, sand paper, screwdriver, wire stripper, masking tape and two crimp-on o-ring ends.
Now start your car amplifier installation:
- Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
- Connect the side with fuse of the red/+ve power cable to the connector on the +ve terminal of your battery.
- Run the power cable through firewall of your car and to the amplifier.
- Find a metal bolt or screw on the metal of your car to connect the ground cable. It should be near to the amplifier.
- Remove your head unit and run the signal and remote on wires from behind the head unit to your amplifier.
- Connect the RCA connectors and the remote on wire to the back of your head unit.
- Now connect everything to amplifier and reconnect your car’s navigation cable to the battery.
