The amplifier is connected with your head unit via an RCA cable and sometimes using a "remote on" wire, is also connected directly with your car battery through a fused "hot" wire and with the car's chassis with a short ground wire. Disconnect the ground cable from battery first. Install your new speaker. Connect the side with fuse of the red/+ve power cable to the connector on the +ve terminal of your battery. Run the power cable through firewall of your car to amplifier. Find a metal bolt or screw on the metal of your car to connect ground cable. It should be near to the amplifier. Remove your head unit and run the signal and remote on wires from behind the head unit to your amplifier. Connect the RCA connectors and the remote on wire to the back of your head unit.
