Carpets, Types and How it Made?

Pakistani Carpets

Carpet is a covering of floor which is usually used in the room to give it a garden like touch. It is loom-woven or felted fabric stuff. Carpet was first introduced in central Asia between the 2nd and 3rd millennium BC. Turks made their efforts to introduce carpet in the European market. Firstly, it was only used as wall décor piece or on tables. But with the passage of time its usage spread in different dimensions and now it is used on floors. Here two words, rug and carpet are used for the one thing but textile scholars distinguish them and define carpet as it is large in size and normally used on floors, whereas rug is small in size and used on beds, table or on the walls. For distinguishing them clearly, some textile scholars also make a difference between carpets and carpeting. In this way, the latter are wall-to-wall and are frequently woven or tufted as "roll goods", usually in 12 feet width but sometimes also in 15 feet width.

In the real estate and home upgrading and improving industries a difference is made among carpet and rug. The carpet specifies a covering that is stick to a floor on the other hand, the rug, a floor covering that is loose-laid, most often for decorative purposes. A tufted carpet is prepared with a gun which adds the wool on a cotton fabric base as opposite to a tangled carpet that is made by tying knots on a usual cotton thread. Woven carpet is manufactured on a loom similar to woven cloth and is a cut mound. Woven carpet is generally the most expensive.

Rugs

A ColorTEC carpet is made on a tufting machine but is able to make a pattern that just looks like that of a woven carpet. Needlefelts carpets are manufactured by electrostatic magnetism of individual artificial fibers that made an extremely long-lasting carpet. A flatweave carpet is made by interweaving vertical and horizontal threads. A hooked rug is a simple type of rug handmade by pulling strips of cloth like wool or cotton from the meshes of a sturdy stuff such as burlap. Unlike woven carpets, embroidery carpets are not manufactured on looms. They are outlined by the running of stitches on a linen based cloth. Carpets are manufactured by several companies across the world by utilizing different materials and technologies. Hands made carpets are most often liked all over the world due to their superior and good-looking designs and durability. Main centers of oriental carpet production are: Pakistan, Iran, India, Turkey, Northern Africa, the Caucasus, Nepal, Spain, Turkmenistan, and Tibet.
